Beachside Living with a Natural Touch
Named after the Noongar word meaning "place of still, foaming water", Dalyellup is a modern coastal community where the beach meets the bush. Located just south of Bunbury, this fast-growing suburb offers a unique mix of urban amenities and breathtaking natural landscapes.
With over 130 hectares of coastal reserves, residents and visitors alike enjoy white sandy beaches, walking and cycling trails, and picturesque lakes. The suburb is designed around preserved Tuart forest, home to native wildlife like ringtail possums and bandicoots. Dalyellup’s thriving community is supported by excellent schools, a bustling and expanding town square, a new skatepark and pump track, and plenty of parks and playgrounds, making it an ideal destination for families and nature enthusiasts alike.
History & Heritage
- Dalyellup, means the foam on the side of the mouth. Dar is your mouth in local Noongar language.
- Where Dalyellup is now, many lakes and estuary water systems would come in. At certain times of the year the frothiness comes up the rivers, which is like the froth which accumulates in the corner of your mouth. Dalyellup means a process that happens on Country and to the body. It’s talking about the mixing of the fresh and salt waters, creating foaming waters.
- Until the masterplanned residential estate was built, the lands were characterised by the northern extent of the coastal band of Tuart Forest and bushland south of the Ocean-Preston Regional Park.
- Dalyellup Beach Estate was a joint venture development started in 1999 by the Department of Housing and Works and Satterley Property Group to meet Western Australia’s growing housing needs.
- Further investment in 2011 was made to address the need for affordable housing for older community members in the Bunbury region.
